Healing and the NHS

Please remember - Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complimentary.  Reiki does not replace conventional medication or treatments.  If you are feeling unwell your first port of call should always be your doctor.

NHSTA (N.H.S. Trust Association)

With the introduction of Reiki into the NHS Directory of Complimentary and Alternative (CAM) Therapies, which has been produced by the NHS Trusts Association (NHSTA) - the leading professional association for primary care in the UK, there is an opportunity for Reiki Therpists to be recognised as a legitimate part of the local Primary Care teams. The House of Lords debate on CAM Medicine, and the Governments response, made it clear that CAM Therapies could now be made available on the NHS and this Directory is intended to provide GP’s; Hospitals; Primary Care Trusts; Practice Nurses and Health Visitors with a comprehensive list of properly qualified CAM Practitioners who are happy to work hand-in-hand with the NHS.  Up until now the NHSTA has provided The Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners for use in the Health Sector, primarily to G.P. practices, and is supported by an advertising campaign in professional journals.  The NHSTA believe that they are in a unique position to bridge the gap between the world of complementary medicine and the public and NHS and are striving very hard to make complementary therapies available to all via the NHS.

The NHS TRUSTS ASSOCIATION
is pleased to announce that our directory of complementary and alternative therapists is now available to the general public. Working in partnership with the online health and lifystyle magazine Complementary alternatives we have been able to make this invaluable resource accesible to all. Please visit Complementary alternatives at

Please note that I am a member of the NHSTA and any Reiki therapist trained by The Reiki Connection is elligible to apply for inclusion (subject to a NHSTA fee)

Healing

The NHS Healer

Angie Buxton

Healing is becoming more widely accepted as an integral part of a patients care within the NHS, especially in haematology units and units treating other life threatening diseases.
The University College Hospital in London (UCH) employs Angie Buxton-King as a full time healer and Angie has been actively promoting the benefit of giving healing along with conventional treatment and medication.  Angie states that in situations such as these a healers job is to help people through the journey of their treatment,  and, mostly, patient's physical pain is reduced, often with emotional pain being released.  The hospital is in full agreement, acknowledging the benefits for patients receiving healing.

The NHS Healer is a book written by Angie. Click here to buy from Amazon.

The NHS Healer
Quotes from the back cover of the book include:-

'Although, clinically, healing remains little understood, the clinical effects are most evident and certainly tangible enough to satisfy the sceptical minds of doctors and nurses..... Healing is the most popular and well-received complementary therapy we provide on the unit'
Stephen Rowley, Clinical Nurse/Manager at UCLH

'The NHS Healer demonstrates what can be achieved when orthodox medicine and complementary and alternative therapies work together and thus represents a landmark in health care.  It should be read by all who are concerned about the delivery of optimum health care'
Dr Ellis Snitcher, Health Care Sciences Group, Middlesex University.

In everyday settings Reiki Healing provides great relief for stress and stress-related illness (such as headaches, IBS etc).  By the simple act of placing the hands, non-intrusively, on a person, the Reiki flows freely, bringing instant relaxation and a feeling of well-being.
Provided one has been attuned to the Reiki energy, Reiki healing can be used in self-healing, and, in many cases, has shown to promote a more positive state of mind.

A Reiki Treatment

The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process.  The recipient either sits in a chair or lies on a couch and relaxes.  No clothing is removed for a treatment; the practitioner simply places their hands non-intrusively, gently on the recipient.

Reiki is an holistic treatment, so the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

The Reiki healing energy works on all levels of being, the Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual.

I offer 2 types of treatments:-

Reiki lasting about 1 hour - £25

Reiki plus the opportunity for visualization and/or discussions*.

This treatment will take about 1.5 hours - £35

Please remember - Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complimentary.  Reiki does not replace conventional medication or treatments.  If you are feeling unwell your first port of call should always be your doctor
