I have been teaching various styles of Reiki since 1999 and I am passionate about a few things.
1 - That the wondrous potential of Reiki for spiritual growth and self development should not be restricted in
any way by regulation.
2 - That the public should be protected from professional practitioners who are insufficiently experienced or
unethical in their practice.
I believe these two passions are compatible.
3 - Anyone practising any style of Reiki, from beginner to teacher and beyond should have the opportunity to
directly contribute to the process of developing voluntary self regulation whether they agree with it or not.
The regulation of Reiki is a process that is happening and will most likely be completed in 2007. There will be national
consultation on various aspects of this, including codes of ethics, a core curriculum for professional practice and the setting
up of a regulatory body to hold a register of practitioners and teachers. The current Reiki Regulatory Working Group (RRWG)
comprises members of various Reiki organisations (eg UKRF, Reiki Association, Tera Mai, Reiki Alliance etc) and as a group
are working towards these goals with occasional input from organisations such as Skills for Health and the Foundation for
Integrated Health.
I would like as many people as possible to know about developments and when and how they can make their views known. To
this end I have set up 'The Open Reiki Group'. This is a loose association of people who believe they are practising
Reiki, held together with a bit of glue (me).
