With the prospect of Voluntary Self Regulation, which include
agreed National Occupational Standards and Continual Professional Development of Reiki, The Open Reiki Group has been set
up as a communication/information service to those practicing any of the varied forms of Reiki.
We believe that there are many excellent practitioners out there who belong to no association or other
such network and may be ‘in the dark’ as to what all these proposed changes could mean to them.
The Open Reiki Group has 3 basic principles: -
1 - That
the wondrous potential of Reiki for spiritual growth and self-development should not be restricted in any way by regulation.
2 - That
the public should be protected from professional practitioners who are insufficiently experienced or unethical in their practice.
I believe these two
are compatible.
3 - Anyone
practising any style of Reiki, from beginner to teacher and beyond should have the opportunity to directly contribute to the
process of developing voluntary self regulation whether they agree with it or not.
The Reiki Regulatory
Working Group is the steering group representing Reiki as a whole. With a membership
well in excess of 100 The Open Reiki Group has representation on The Reiki Regulatory Working Group and as such gives a voice
to all its members.
The Open Reiki Group currently has no committee, no consultation and no rules for membership other than
the initiating into, and practicing of Reiki.
Membership is a one off payment of £5 if you are web based, £10 if you
are 'postal' based.
If you want an organisation that has accreditation, insurance facility
etc then you may wish to consider joining The Reiki Connection, or one of the other Reiki Groups offering this.
